PowerGate ’s review of the Cherokee Power CAR2548FP front-end power supply finds that the 2.5kW of +48 VDC Power Supply comes in the smalletst package available in the industry, measuring a miniature size of only 14.25 x 4.00 x 1.65? with optional 4-Bay Rack for 10kW of power in a 1U profile.
With an unprecedented power density of 27W/in3 and an efficiency of 92 percent, Cherokee’s CAR2548FP is the industry-leading front-end power solution. An onboard microcontroller allows more accurate temperature, current, and voltage sensing while supporting interfaces such as I2C, PMBus, and Ethernet protocols. Measuring only 1.61 x 4.00 x 14.25?, the CAR2548FP front end delivers +48 VDC / 52 Amps of at high line operation (180~264 VAC) with standby voltage of either 3.3V or 5V at 1A. A thermally controlled fan enables -10 degrees Celsius (C) to +70C operation and a -40C startup. Additional features include hot-swap and fault redundancy, active single-wire load sharing, output voltage programming, current readout, remote on/off and front plate LEDs. Protection features on the rectifier include input over and under voltage, output over voltage, over temperature and over current. A supporting power shelf offers scalability up to 10,000W with full hot-swap / redundant functions.
